Born and raised in Spain, I moved to the United States twenty years ago to pursue my Ph.D. at Columbia University in New York. Since then, I have spent most of my professional career leading technical teams in venture-backed start-ups.
Before joining White Star, I was the Technical Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Freshly, a healthy meal delivery service acquired by Nestlé for over $1 billion. Prior to that, I served as the CTO of Pixable, a media aggregator service acquired by Singapore Telecom. I have led Engineering, Product, Data and IT teams, with strong emphasis in data automation and AI.
A Computer Scientist by training and vocation, I began my career in Research and Innovation. After earning my Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University, I worked at Microsoft Research, Telefónica Research, and served as an adjunct professor at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona.
I’ve been an investor and advisor since my early twenties, and I’ve been involved in start-ups for all my professional career. I understand that the hardest part of building a successful business is scaling it. That’s why I focus on helping portfolio companies develop strong processes, implement effective automation, and build solid software systems to reach the next level.
I am the quintessential definition of a geek. I started coding when I was 7, and since then, I have always been deeply involved with software in some form or another. I read every book and watch every science fiction movie that comes out, especially indulging in the more obscure ones (my favourite movie is Primer). I love music and staying active as much as possible to balance my foodie obsession.
